Specialties
I enjoy working with children and adolescents ages 0-18 and their caregivers, with specialized training in supporting people with healing from trauma; my training includes modalities such as EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Child Parent Psychotherapy. I also utilize therapy tools such as mindfulness and expressive arts, and I prioritize positive therapeutic relationships and safety in my work with clients. I speak Spanish and have learned a great deal from the Latine immigrant community in the Twin Cities. It is important to me that my clients feel safe and free to be themselves in therapy, free of judgment or shame and focused on celebrating their strengths.
Why I chose my specialty
Social justice is a guiding force for me, so social work appealed to me for that reason. I enjoy listening to people's stories, and I have always enjoyed working with children because of their honesty and connection to wonder in the world. I come from a family of people who have struggled with trauma and mental health issues, so my passion for work in this area has deep roots.
