Why I Chose My Specialty

My interest in clinical psychology began as a teen after reading a book about someone undergoing Jungian analysis, which explored folklore, mythology, and the collective unconscious. It revealed the complexity of human nature, deeply intertwined with cultural contexts. This also became a way for me to better understand myself and my experiences, especially as an immigrant navigating the challenges of not fully belonging to either my culture of origin or the culture I live in now.

Languages Spoken

English, Tamil

Honors/Experience

Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including private practice, the VA hospital system, Indian Health Services, tribal clinics, and federally qualified health centers. My roles have ranged from front-line staff to provider in both outpatient and hospital settings, as well as supervisor, and now director. The work I’ve found most fulfilling has been with individuals from diverse, underrepresented groups, including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and immigrant communities.
